Today, at three minutes and four seconds after 2 a.m., the time and date was 2:03:04 on 5/6/07. This date sequence won't come around again for another century.

So THAT's what happened today ... it started out well enough, with Ricky doing a version of the Safety Dance while Troy and I lauged at him.

We rode up to Washington the usual way (Chalk Bluff - is anyone tired of this road yet - to 20 and down Alpha Rd.) The "new" trail from Gaston Rd. to Graniteville Road was, once again, KILLER! And ... we took a break at the meandering creek. Here's where the 5/6/07 mumbo-jumbo caught up with Don and me...

Troy crosses.

Ricky crosses (after doing some weird crossing of himself ... don't ask).

Brian crosses.

Don crosses. Sort of. I got good "before and after" shots, but you'll have to wait to see the ones of his bike actually falling INTO the water. Who got photos??

Don finally gets across. It's Rory's turn. He kills it just as he enters the water, but hits the e-start and jams through.

My turn ... but I couldn't take photos of myself, so you'll have to wait for them. It should be classic. (Can you say "swim"?)

After drying out (kind of) we headed up to Graniteville Road and Bowman Lake. Nice ride!

Troy bottoms out the DRZ.

Rory in mid-air!

Once at Bowman, we took a nice lunch break near the wind-driven lake. Nice, chilly, sunny, windy. Back on the trail, we tried for Jackson Meadows Reservoir.

Nothing doing. Snowdrift across the road. Did anyone get photos of it?

Troy noticed his clutch cable was almost broken, so we split for the truck. The rest of the crew headed for Alleghany. How'd it go, boys!!??

The 5/6/07 ride won't go down in history as one of the best. But it was one of the funniest...

Rory and I went 161 miles from my shop in Meadow Vista and back, I got home at 8:00 Rory has at least a half hour to go to get home. I was just starting to dry out from my swim in the river, when my front end washed out coming into Aleghany into a big sloppy mud puddle face first my left boot filled with water again my gloves and left side of my jacket and pants soaked again. I'm tired and glad to be home, but it was worth every minute of it, what a great ride.......

That was indeed a fine ride....the creek crossing is no problem..........always a concern ............. but dropping the bike is never an option for me........(touch wood)...

Ya should practice it just like log crossing..........then when ya come to it ya have more confidence and ................well, practice makes perfect.

Having some speed up ( momentum ) , correct power on and off....( throttle , throttle , throttle...).and above all keep a straight line.

I personally dont like to stand up when crossing things like that....I use my body weight forward  and leg out as a counterbalance to help correct lil' problems....and of course moto moto moto thru it all...............what can I say to you fellas except practice it in smaller crossings too.

Dont get me wrong here either..Ive had my spills , thrills,  and chills....im no expert

So I have no problem in going back to the same crossing and doing it again.

Hey Steve maybe I should ride yer bike too!...har.....juz kidden.......Don Won...im shocked you fell at all....you hardly ever fall!!!

When I split off and made it to n.san juan for fuel I had about 4/10's of a gallon left.......then I hear a fella gave ya gas in graniteville....geeeez.....or was that the burgers from Aleganey?lol

Thanks for a great pack of riderz again....till the next.............B

Troy,,,,,,,,,,,,"Where's The Beef?"

Come on its Thursday and no video of the creek crossing

So,,,,,,,,Since your not showing any videos..........I was wondering if I had any more pictures of "Crash" that can be considered you at times..I found this one.........Your just fixing your bars after the crash in this picture...........I couldn't believe this crash.................Troy decides to cross a spring on the side of the road and doesnt' notice that there's a 45 degree angled rock that crosses him up and throws the bike on top of him...........I was luckily there, off my bike in disbelief, an ran to get the bike off of him. Sure glad it wasn't worse................Well, Here's the picture of the aftermath. See the spring behind him......Well he comes up at a pretty decent speed on the side of gate and cross, up and down he went with bike and all............I might have more pictures of "Crash" Com'on give me video please

Peace

Here's another but it's not as good as going up around the log video and falling.

Still a favorite facial expression
